Packing well makes the entire Global Business Australia experience smoother—especially when traveling as part of a faculty-led, professional program. The goal is to pack smart, light, and intentionally, keeping in mind both international and in-country flight requirements.

Below is a clear breakdown of baggage rules and practical packing guidance.

✈️ Checked Baggage (International Flights – Air Canada)

Your international flights include two checked bags. However, we strongly recommend bringing only one checked bag, as domestic flights within Australia allow only one checked bag unless you choose to pay extra in-country.

Checked Bag Allowance

• Maximum weight per bag: 23 kg (50 lb)

• Maximum linear dimensions: 158 cm (62 in)

Additional Fees (Per Direction)

• Overweight bag (23–32 kg / 50–70 lb): $100 CAD/USD + taxes

• Oversized bag (158–292 cm / 63–115 in): $100 CAD/USD + taxes

If a bag is both overweight and oversized, the $100 fee is charged only once.

• Decongestants

• Deodorant

• Passport, wallet, and ID

• Headphones

• Cell phone

• Books or magazines

• Laptop / iPad

• Pen (for customs forms)

• Change of clothes (especially underwear)

• Glasses / contacts + supplies (travel size)

• Prescription medications

• Neck pillow (not stylish—but worth it)

• Clothing for both warm and cool weather (conditions can change in one day)

• Sunglasses and a hat (part of the trip includes tropical climates)

• Toiletries (basic items provided in hotels)

• Power adapter

• Chargers (phone, laptop, etc.)

• Compact umbrella

• Light jacket

• Sweaters (“jumpers” in Australia)

• Bathing suit

• 5 days’ worth of casual and business-appropriate clothing(Laundry is available in all three cities; detergent will be purchased there)

🎁 Business Visit Gifts

Students will be asked to pack some small gifts for business visits. These will be distributed at our departure meeting to help spread weight evenly across luggage.

• Students are responsible for any overage fees

• Plan for souvenirs and in-country weight limits

• For the return trip, a second checked bag is allowed, and inexpensive carry-ons can be purchased in Australia if needed
